To complement my Forever21 platform open toe lace up booties I wore a vintage polka dot top, Zara tiered skirt & a Marc Jacobs bag.  And of course a messy, oversized, on top of the head bun.

This time last year I was living in NYC & thus battling crazy wind, snow & all around blizzards.  All in all the perfect equation for terrible, terrible hair days.  Every single day.  So what was I to do?!  Well when the Spring 2010 Collections hit the runway last February my dilemma was solved!  My favorite designers were sending their models down the runway with oversize, on top of the head buns.  LOVE IT.  PERFECT. THANK YOU.

With every passing trend I think to myself ‘haha how bizarre I’ll never wear that!’ and before you know it I’m rockin’ the trend & loving it!!  And so in addition to my new fav ‘do,  I am also enjoying my Forever21 lace up, platform, open toe booties, especially because they go with everything!  Jeans, skirts, dresses…wear them now well into spring….

From top:  Alexander McQueen skull zipper peep toe booties. Brian Atwood suede nude platform open toe booties. Givenchy lace up peep toe booties.

And for final proof of this budding bad ass trend…Mary Kate Olsen is sporting a shredded, zipper, open toe bootie.  So moral of the story never say never, embrace the trends but make sure to always adapt them to your own personal style!

  1. Haha… you are going to think I’m crazy, but after watching Secret Diary of a Call Girl’s first episode of the season (guilty pleasure) I copied her over-sized, messy bun the whole weekend. I loved it! Glad to see a post on this!!
